How to treat hyperopia, astigmatism, and amblyopia
Disease description:
My vision has never been very good. I've had several checkups before, and was diagnosed with hyperopia, astigmatism, and amblyopia. I've undergone treatment, but it hasn't been effective. I'd like to consult everyone here: what is the most effective way to treat hyperopia, astigmatism, and amblyopia?
Strabismic amblyopia is a specific vision problem that requires a comprehensive treatment approach. A professional refraction examination should be conducted to determine the patient's exact visual status, followed by prescribing appropriate glasses to correct the refractive error. During correction, occlusion of the sound eye is necessary to promote visual development in the amblyopic eye, thereby providing it with greater visual stimulation. Once the vision in the amblyopic eye improves to a certain level, strabismus surgery may be considered to further enhance the patient's visual function. For anisometropic amblyopia, where there is a significant difference in refractive power between the two eyes—one eye being normal or only mildly affected while the other exhibits higher degrees of hyperopia, myopia, or astigmatism—cycloplegic refraction and corrective lenses are also essential. Timely occlusion therapy should be implemented based on the patient's age, severity of amblyopia, and the physician's recommendations. Additionally, amblyopia training exercises should be carried out throughout the treatment process to gradually improve the patient's visual acuity.
