Treatment of Trichomonas Vaginitis
Disease description:
I experienced symptoms of vaginal itching, severe itchiness in the genital area, and my vaginal discharge was dark green. I later learned that I had trichomonas vaginitis. How is trichomonas vaginitis treated?
The treatment of trichomonal vaginitis mainly includes the following:
1. General measures: Maintain external genital hygiene by cleaning the vulva daily and changing sterilized underwear regularly; avoid spicy foods and alcohol consumption; abstain from sexual activity; and treat sexual partners simultaneously.
2. Vaginal medications: Use vaginal suppositories such as metronidazole or tinidazole, administered once nightly or every other day. A course typically lasts 7–10 days, and 2–3 consecutive courses may be used.
3. Oral medications: Administer oral agents such as metronidazole tablets or tinidazole capsules to eliminate Trichomonas. Proper use of these medications can achieve significant therapeutic effects.
4. Altering vaginal pH: Irrigate the vagina with acetic acid chlorhexidine solution to lower vaginal pH and inhibit trichomonad growth.
5. Traditional Chinese herbal washes: Use decoctions of Chinese herbs with heat-clearing, detoxifying, antiparasitic, and anti-itch properties for external washing to relieve vulvar inflammation.
These treatment methods should be tailored to individual patient conditions and applied according to medical advice to ensure both therapeutic efficacy and patient safety.
