Folliculitis Treatment Methods
Disease description:
I've developed folliculitis in the beard area on my face, with persistent bumps that are easily irritated and cut during shaving. Could you please advise on the most effective treatment for folliculitis?
The main treatment methods for folliculitis include the following:
1. Local treatment: Suitable for early-stage or localized folliculitis. Antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and drying effects can be achieved by applying topical medications such as 2.5% iodine tincture or 1% neomycin ointment, thus achieving therapeutic goals. However, it should be noted that local treatment must be performed under the guidance of a professional physician.
2. Systemic treatment: For severe cases or folliculitis with widespread involvement, in addition to local treatment, systemic therapy is also required. Antibiotics or sulfonamide drugs may be used, along with oral administration of multivitamins, to help alleviate symptoms.
3. Medication therapy: Includes oral medications and topical ointments. Oral agents such as traditional Chinese medicines or Western medicines with heat-clearing, detoxifying, blood-activating, and cooling effects, as well as topical ointments such as fusidic acid, can be selected according to the specific condition.
