Causes of vaginal bleeding
Disease description:
It's not my menstrual period these days, but I'm experiencing bleeding, and it's bright red blood. I'm worried that this might be caused by some serious illness. I would like to know what could be the possible causes of vaginal bleeding?
Vaginal bleeding is one of the common symptoms in the female reproductive system, with a wide variety of potential causes:
1. Cervical lesions, such as cervical polyps and cervical erosion, may lead to bleeding, particularly contact bleeding, which is relatively common.
2. Vaginal inflammation, including vaginitis and endometritis, can disrupt the normal vaginal structure, causing erosion or ulcers that subsequently result in bleeding.
3. Vaginal trauma—such as lacerations or injuries during sexual intercourse, or damage caused by tampon use—can also lead to vaginal bleeding.
4. Vaginal tumors, including malignant tumors, may cause bleeding as well, although the amount of bleeding is usually small.
5. Other potential causes include ovarian endocrine dysfunction, genital tract tumors, uterine bleeding related to pregnancy, systemic diseases, and the use of exogenous hormones.
It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation to identify the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
