Why does taking warfarin cause mouth ulcers?
Disease description:
Recently taking warfarin, I'm worried about developing mouth ulcers. Can warfarin cause oral ulcers?

There are mainly two reasons why warfarin use may lead to oral ulcers. 1. As an anticoagulant, warfarin's anticoagulant effect may alter the blood system, making capillaries in the oral mucosa more susceptible to damage, thereby triggering oral ulcers. 2. Warfarin may interact with certain medications or foods; particularly when used concomitantly with antifungal agents such as miconazole oral gel, it may enhance warfarin's anticoagulant effect, increasing the risk of bleeding events, including bleeding and ulceration of the oral mucosa. 3. During warfarin therapy, patients should avoid taking these drugs or foods concurrently and closely monitor their oral health. If adverse reactions such as oral ulcers occur, prompt medical attention is necessary.
