To determine whether a child has pinworms around the anus, the following observation and examination methods can be used: 1. Observe symptoms: When a child is infected with pinworms, anal itching is common, especially more pronounced at night. It may also lead to skin irritation or damage around the area, disturbed sleep, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain. 2. Visual inspection: After the child falls asleep, examine the anal area. Since pinworms often crawl out of the anus at night to lay eggs, the worms may sometimes be seen directly. 3. Tape test: In the morning, apply a piece of clear adhesive tape around the anal area, then check the tape for the presence of pinworm eggs. If any of the above symptoms are observed, or if worms or eggs are detected, seek medical attention promptly. After diagnosis, treatment with medications such as albendazole or mebendazole should be carried out under a doctor's guidance. Additionally, maintaining good hygiene practices is essential to prevent reinfection.
