What are the causes of heatstroke?
Disease description:
When summer comes, Mom is prone to heatstroke. She feels generally unwell and weak. She must have been scraped. She always mixes new things with old ones. Why is she so susceptible to heatstroke? There's a saying that people who are accustomed to gua sha don't respond well to heat-relieving medications. Is there any truth to this claim? What causes heatstroke?
The main causes of heatstroke include the following:
1. High-temperature environment: When the ambient temperature exceeds 35°C, especially during outdoor work or activities, insufficient heat prevention and cooling measures can easily lead to heatstroke, as the body is unable to dissipate heat effectively.
2. Humidity and ventilation: In high-humidity environments, sweat evaporation slows down, reducing the body's ability to cool itself and increasing the risk of heatstroke. Poorly ventilated areas also hinder effective heat dissipation.
3. Physical exertion: Intense physical activity, such as vigorous exercise, increases internal heat production, which may exceed the body’s capacity to dissipate heat, thereby leading to heatstroke.
4. Inadequate fluid intake: Insufficient hydration, particularly in hot environments, impairs the body's temperature regulation and cooling mechanisms, increasing the risk of heatstroke.
5. Other factors: Wearing tight, non-breathable clothing; having certain medical conditions (such as hyperthyroidism or diabetes); and taking specific medications (such as atropine or amphetamines) may all impair thermoregulation and sweat gland function, contributing to heatstroke.
Heatstroke results from the combined effects of multiple factors. Therefore, during hot weather, it is essential to take appropriate preventive measures to avoid heatstroke.
