Are multiple nodular shadows in both lungs indicative of cancer?
Disease description:
Two days ago, I went to the hospital for a health checkup and found multiple nodules in my lungs. Could multiple nodular shadows in both lungs indicate cancer?
Multiple nodular shadows in both lungs do not necessarily indicate cancer. This imaging finding may result from various causes, including but not limited to pulmonary infections, sarcoidosis, tuberculosis, and old healed lesions. In most cases, multiple lung nodules are benign. Only in rare instances do they represent malignant lung tumors. To determine the nature of the nodules, further investigations and evaluations are required, such as inflammatory markers, immunological tests, tumor marker assessments, and, when necessary, pathological biopsy via needle puncture. If lung cancer is confirmed, appropriate treatment options—such as surgery, radiotherapy, or chemotherapy—should be selected based on the individual's condition. When multiple nodular shadows are detected in both lungs, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly and follow the doctor’s advice for diagnosis and treatment.
