How is orchitis treated?
Disease description:
My testicles have become swollen and painful, and I've been diagnosed with orchitis. How is orchitis treated?

Treatment for orchitis mainly includes the following:
1. Medication: Antibiotics are used to combat infection and reduce inflammation, thereby alleviating symptoms. Commonly used drugs include ofloxacin and tarivid; intravenous penicillin may also be administered. If pain is severe, analgesics such as procaine can be used in nerve block therapy to relieve discomfort.
2. Surgical treatment: In severe cases, such as the presence of abscesses or testicular atrophy, surgical intervention is required. Surgical options include incision and drainage or orchiectomy.
3. General management: During acute episodes, patients should rest in bed and elevate the scrotum to reduce pain. Local heat or cold compresses may also be applied as adjunctive therapies.
