Pathologically, conditions such as diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and Sjögren's syndrome may also cause nocturnal dryness and thirst. These diseases are often accompanied by other symptoms, including elevated blood glucose, increased appetite, anxiety, or dry eyes. Regarding pharmacological treatment, for cases due to yin deficiency with excessive internal heat, medications such as Liuwei Dihuang Wan or Zhibai Dihuang Wan can nourish yin and reduce fire. For those caused by upward flare of stomach fire, Huanglian Qingwei Wan or similar formulas that clear heat, detoxify, and reduce stomach fire are preferable options.
