Can tendon sheath inflammation cause hand swelling?
Disease description:
My hand has been getting more and more swollen these past few days. I originally thought it was because I had slept on it, but it hasn't improved after several days. My friend said it might be tenosynovitis. Can tenosynovitis cause hand swelling?
Tendinitis can cause hand swelling, which mainly depends on the severity of the condition.
1. Mild condition: For mild tendinitis, the inflammation causes relatively minor damage to the local muscles. With proper daily care, it generally does not lead to hand swelling.
2. Severe condition: However, in cases of more severe tendinitis, the surrounding muscles, ligaments, fascia, and other soft tissues may develop abnormal edema and congestion due to inflammatory stimulation. As the condition progresses, hand swelling may occur.
Tendinitis can indeed cause hand swelling, and the degree of swelling is closely related to the severity of the condition. Therefore, once symptoms of tendinitis are detected, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly and follow the treatment advice provided by a physician.
