What are the acquired factors that contribute to the development of bromhidrosis?
Disease description:
I have developed body odor (bromhidrosis) in the past six months, which troubles me a lot. May I ask what are the acquired factors that can cause body odor?
The acquired factors contributing to body odor (bromhidrosis) mainly include the following:
1. Endocrine disorders: Long-term mental stress, anxiety, depression, poor lifestyle habits such as staying up late, and diseases caused by nervous system damage, such as schizophrenia and paranoia, may lead to endocrine disorders, which can in turn trigger bromhidrosis.
2. Poor hygiene habits: Neglecting personal hygiene can easily lead to excessive bacterial growth in the armpits. These bacteria interact with sweat gland secretions to produce unpleasant odors, which may cause bromhidrosis.
3. Unhealthy diet: Consuming excessive meat or frequently eating spicy and irritating foods can stimulate the apocrine sweat glands, causing sweat to become acidic and emit an unpleasant odor, thus triggering bromhidrosis.
4. Physical irritation to sweat glands: Excessive shaving or plucking of underarm hair may irritate the sweat glands, leading to glandular hyperplasia and enlargement, thereby increasing sweat secretion and potentially causing bromhidrosis.
The above factors can all contribute to the development of bromhidrosis. Therefore, it is important to avoid these unhealthy habits in daily life and maintain good hygiene and dietary habits to reduce the occurrence of body odor.
