Dr. Luo Yong
There is an association between dark yellow urine and elevated bilirubin levels. High bilirubin levels may result from various factors, such as liver or biliary tract diseases, long-term alcohol consumption, or endocrine disorders. When bilirubin levels increase in the body, some of the excess bilirubin is excreted through urine, leading to an increased concentration of bilirubin in the urine and causing the urine to appear darker yellow. Additionally, physiological factors such as insufficient water intake or prolonged urine retention may also cause urine to appear more yellowish. Therefore, if urine consistently appears abnormally yellow, it is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation to determine whether elevated bilirubin levels or other underlying health issues are present.
