Can gastritis cause right abdominal pain?
Disease description:
I have been experiencing right-sided abdominal pain recently. I suspect it might be gastritis. Can gastritis cause right abdominal pain?
Gastritis may cause right-sided abdominal pain. The symptoms of gastritis vary depending on the type, but generally may include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and so on. In cases of either chronic or acute gastritis, upper abdominal pain is a common symptom; however, the pain is not confined to the upper middle abdomen and may sometimes involve the right side of the abdomen. Additionally, certain specific conditions such as Helicobacter pylori infection, chronic cholecystitis, and duodenal ulcers also may cause right-sided abdominal pain in patients with gastritis. These symptoms are not specific to gastritis and may also be associated with other diseases. Therefore, when right-sided abdominal pain occurs, timely medical consultation is recommended so that a doctor can make a diagnosis and provide treatment based on the individual patient's condition.
