How to treat mouth ulcers in children
Disease description:
My son has eaten a lot of spicy food these past few days, which has caused mouth ulcers. He has been complaining of pain, especially while eating, and often cries out in pain. It is very distressing to see him like this. How should I treat my child's oral ulcers?
For the treatment of mouth ulcers in children, the following measures can be taken:
1. Medication: Use drugs such as Xigua Shuang (watermelon frost) or Yunnan Baiyao powder, which have effects of clearing heat, reducing fire, relieving swelling and alleviating pain. These medications can be directly applied to the ulcerated area, helping to reduce pain and promote healing. It is typically applied several times daily and usually shows effects within 2–3 days.
2. Physical therapy and home remedies: Rinsing the mouth with mild salt water or tea may help remove bacteria from the mouth and promote recovery. In addition, folk remedies such as honey application and wood ear mushroom therapy may also help alleviate symptoms of oral ulcers.
3. Vitamin supplementation: Oral ulcers may be related to vitamin B deficiency; therefore, oral vitamin B tablets or multivitamin supplements can be taken as an adjunct to treatment.
If concerns persist, timely medical consultation is recommended for diagnosis and treatment by a qualified physician.
