Causes of Mouth Ulcers in Children After Fever
Disease description:
The baby suddenly developed a high fever, so we rushed to the hospital for an intravenous drip. However, the baby started crying and fussing whenever I tried to breastfeed. I noticed that the child had developed mouth ulcers, which definitely were not there before. I would like to ask what causes mouth ulcers in children after fever?
Children may develop oral ulcers after fever, which can be caused by various factors.
1. It could be infectious stomatitis, an inflammatory response of the mucous membranes caused by viral or bacterial invasion, leading to symptoms such as oral pain and swelling.
2. Herpangina may also cause this phenomenon; when the body is attacked by Coxsackievirus A, blisters and erosion may appear locally, thus inducing oral ulcers.
3. Hand, foot, and mouth disease is another common cause, triggered by enterovirus infection. It can lead to red maculopapular rashes and small blisters in the mouth, hands, and feet. These blisters may rupture and form ulcers.
4. Acute upper respiratory tract infections may also result in ulceration of the pharyngeal mucosa due to stimulation by inflammatory factors.
These diseases are often contagious to some extent. Parents are advised to seek timely medical attention when children develop oral ulcers and fever, to determine the exact cause and receive appropriate treatment.
