Can gastritis cause right abdominal pain?
Disease description:
I have been experiencing right-sided abdominal pain recently. I suspect it might be gastritis. Can gastritis cause right-sided abdominal pain?
Gastritis may cause right-sided abdominal pain, but this is not a typical symptom of gastritis. Gastritis usually presents with epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and other symptoms. However, in some cases, patients with gastritis may experience right-sided abdominal pain, which could be due to concomitant conditions or complications such as Helicobacter pylori infection, chronic cholecystitis, duodenal ulcer, or pancreatitis. Additionally, right-sided abdominal pain in patients with gastritis might also result from inflammatory involvement of other organs in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen. Although gastritis is not a common cause of right-sided abdominal pain, it cannot be completely ruled out. If right-sided abdominal pain occurs, timely medical consultation is recommended to determine the underlying cause and initiate appropriate treatment.
