What happens if you take too much colchicine?
Disease description:
Recently, after the weather turned cooler, my gout flared up again. I usually take some colchicine to relieve the pain. May I ask, what are the consequences of taking too much colchicine?

Overdose of colchicine may lead to serious health consequences, including the following manifestations:
1. Central nervous system depression: May cause severe symptoms such as drowsiness and coma, and may even be life-threatening.
2. Acute renal failure: Manifested as symptoms including oliguria, anuria, and edema, requiring urgent intervention to prevent further damage.
3. Gastrointestinal bleeding: May cause serious conditions such as hematemesis and melena, requiring immediate medical attention.
4. Hematologic toxicity: May lead to problems such as anemia and leukopenia, requiring close monitoring and timely treatment.
5. Arrhythmia: May cause irregular or rapid heartbeat, and may lead to syncope or sudden death in severe cases.
6. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, dizziness, headache, and shortness of breath.
If a patient ingests an excessive amount, administration of the drug should be stopped immediately and medical assistance should be sought.
