Children with bronchitis should try to avoid consuming excessive sweets. On one hand, sweet foods can easily lead to increased phlegm production; therefore, for children presenting with excessive phlegm, poor appetite, and a white, thick, greasy tongue coating, it is advisable to reduce intake of sweet foods. On the other hand, patients with concurrent gastroesophageal reflux should also limit their consumption of sweets, as sweet foods may exacerbate gastric acid secretion and reflux, potentially triggering coughing and wheezing. Most children with bronchitis may consume sweets, but the decision should be based on individual circumstances. If a child strongly desires sweets, they should be given in moderation, with consideration of the child's overall health condition and guidance from a physician. Additionally, it is recommended to consume more light, easily digestible foods, such as congee, vegetables, and fruits, to aid in recovery from the illness.
