Can liver cirrhosis with splenomegaly be cured?
Disease description:
I have had cirrhosis for a long time, and during a recent follow-up visit, my doctor mentioned that I have developed splenomegaly. Can cirrhosis with splenomegaly be cured?
Hepatic cirrhosis with splenomegaly generally cannot be completely cured, but its progression can be controlled. Cirrhosis is an irreversible chronic liver disease, and splenomegaly often occurs as a complication. Treatment methods include medication and surgical interventions. If splenomegaly symptoms are not severe, active treatment for cirrhosis combined with enhanced anti-liver fibrosis therapy is recommended; as cirrhosis improves, splenomegaly can be controlled. If symptoms are severe and hypersplenism develops, splenectomy may be considered. Patients should also undergo regular check-ups and maintain healthy lifestyle habits to enhance their resistance to disease. Although cirrhosis cannot be cured, comprehensive treatment can effectively manage the condition.
