Dr. Liu Chao

The duration of metronidazole treatment for patients with pulpitis varies depending on factors such as the severity of the condition, individual constitution, and treatment response, typically lasting 7 to 14 days.

For patients with mild symptoms and localized infection, a course of metronidazole for approximately 7 days is generally sufficient. However, for those with more severe infections or complications such as periodontal abscesses, treatment may need to be extended to 10–14 days.

Although metronidazole can help relieve pain and reduce infection, it is not a definitive cure for pulpitis. Targeted treatments such as root canal therapy are primarily required. Therefore, patients with pulpitis should seek timely medical attention, follow the doctor's instructions regarding medication, and cooperate with other therapeutic approaches.

During the course of treatment, patients should avoid alcohol consumption and eating spicy or irritating foods to prevent interference with drug effectiveness or worsening of the condition.
