What to do for heatstroke
Disease description:
Recently, I have been experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and sudden fever. My mom said it might be heatstroke, and I would like to know what should be done if someone has heatstroke?
When heatstroke occurs, take the following measures promptly to alleviate symptoms:
1. Rapid cooling: Immediately move the patient to a cool and well-ventilated area. Use a fan or air conditioner to lower the ambient temperature, or spray the body with cool water or wipe the entire body with a wet towel to facilitate heat dissipation.
2. Rehydration: Encourage the patient to drink small amounts of water frequently, such as plain boiled water, mung bean soup, or saline sugar solution, to replenish fluids and electrolytes lost in the body and prevent fluid and electrolyte disturbances.
3. Monitor symptoms: If the patient develops symptoms such as headache, nausea, or hot skin, heat-relieving medications such as Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui (Agastache essential oil) or Shidi Shui (a traditional Chinese medicine) may be administered according to medical advice.
4. Emergency treatment: If the patient loses consciousness or develops symptoms of severe heatstroke, call the emergency number 120 promptly. Endotracheal intubation and plasma transfusion may be necessary for treatment.
Please note that heatstroke is an emergency condition and prompt action should be taken to prevent deterioration of the condition.
