What are the causes of functional dyspepsia?
Disease description:
I have been experiencing stomach bloating and a slight feeling of nausea after meals since yesterday. After visiting the hospital, I was diagnosed with functional dyspepsia. May I ask what causes functional dyspepsia?
The causes of functional dyspepsia are complex and diverse, mainly including:
1. Gastrointestinal motility disorders: Such as delayed gastric emptying and disordered gastric-duodenal motility, which are the main pathophysiological bases of functional dyspepsia.
2. Visceral hypersensitivity: Patients exhibit increased sensitivity of the stomach to physiological and noxious stimuli, leading to symptoms such as abdominal pain and bloating.
3. Abnormal gastric acid secretion: Although basal acid secretion is usually within the normal range, stimulation may cause increased acid secretion.
4. Helicobacter pylori infection: Following infection, gastric mucosal inflammation may develop, affecting gastric sensation and motility.
5. Psychosocial factors: Emotional states such as anxiety and depression, as well as unhealthy lifestyle habits and social factors, may also play a role in the onset and progression of functional dyspepsia.
