What are the symptoms of lupus nephritis?
Disease description:
Recently, I have been experiencing intermittent fever for quite some time, and I also developed severe oral ulcers, making eating very painful. Sometimes I feel pain in my joints as well. After visiting the hospital for a checkup, the doctor diagnosed me with lupus nephritis. I would like to know what symptoms are associated with lupus nephritis.
The main symptoms of lupus nephritis include the following:
1. Renal manifestations: significant proteinuria, with increased urinary protein detected by urinalysis; microscopic hematuria, and in a few cases, gross hematuria. Due to hypoalbuminemia and reduced glomerular filtration function, edema commonly occurs in areas such as the face and lower limbs. As the disease progresses, renal insufficiency and even uremia may develop.
2. Systemic symptoms: fever, rash, oral ulcers, hair loss, and other typical manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus; joint pain and arthritis, commonly affecting the small joints of the extremities; hematologic abnormalities such as anemia and thrombocytopenia.
3. Involvement of other systems: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. Hypertension, heart failure, and arrhythmias may occur. A small number of patients may experience neurological symptoms such as headache and dizziness.
