Heatstroke Symptoms and First Aid Methods
Disease description:
Dad seems to have heatstroke; he says he feels a bit dizzy. Should we go to the hospital for treatment? What are the symptoms and first aid methods for heatstroke?
Symptoms of heatstroke include:
1. Early signs of heatstroke: headache, dizziness, thirst, profuse sweating, normal or slightly elevated body temperature (≤37.5℃).
2. Mild heatstroke: elevated body temperature above 38℃, flushed face, chest tightness, hot dry skin, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and decreased blood pressure.
3. Severe heatstroke: body temperature ≥40℃, absence of sweating, impaired consciousness, coma, accompanied by muscle spasms, convulsions, difficulty breathing, and even multiple organ failure.
First aid for heatstroke can be divided into the following steps:
1. Rapid cooling: move to a cool place, loosen clothing, and use cold water, wet towels, or ice packs for cooling.
2. Rehydration and electrolyte replacement: drink light salt water or electrolyte-containing beverages; avoid drinking large amounts of water alone.
3. Seek medical treatment: individuals with mild heatstroke that does not improve with the above measures or with severe heatstroke should seek immediate medical attention for professional treatment.
