Dr. Yang Ziqi
Kidney function tests mainly include the following: 1. Blood tests: Examination of key indicators such as serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and uric acid to reflect the kidney's filtration and excretion functions. Elevated levels of serum creatinine may indicate kidney damage, and abnormalities in BUN and uric acid also suggest potential kidney dysfunction. 2. Urinalysis: Analysis of a urine sample, including color, clarity, pH, specific gravity, protein, red blood cells, etc., to directly reflect the kidney's excretory and concentrating functions. Increased urinary protein and red blood cells may be markers of kidney damage. 3. Imaging studies: Non-invasive examinations such as color Doppler ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) are used to observe the size, shape, structure of the kidneys, and detect any abnormalities such as stones or tumors, providing morphological evidence for kidney function assessment. Before the tests, it is necessary to fast for more than 8 hours and avoid high-protein diets to ensure the accuracy of the results.
