Medically, what level of pain is dysmenorrhea?
Disease description:
I am 26 years old this year, and I have always experienced dysmenorrhea, which is really unbearable when the pain occurs. I would like to know, medically speaking, what level of pain does dysmenorrhea correspond to?
The severity of dysmenorrhea pain varies among individuals and is influenced by multiple factors. It can be roughly categorized into three grades:
1. Mild pain (Grade 1): Characterized by slight lower abdominal or abdominal pain. Patients may sometimes feel restless while sitting, but generally do not experience systemic symptoms and can continue with work or study.
2. Moderate pain (Grade 2): The pain intensifies and presents as severe lower abdominal pain. Patients often find it intolerable and may experience symptoms such as profuse cold sweating and cold extremities. This level of pain can significantly affect work, study, and daily life.
3. Severe pain (Grade 3 or higher): In addition to moderate pain, patients may also experience symptoms such as low back pain, nausea, and vomiting. Conventional pain relief methods are often ineffective, forcing patients to stop working or studying and requiring bed rest. Some severe cases of dysmenorrhea may even reach the level of Grade 5 pain, seriously disrupting the patient's sleep and daily activities.
