Dr. Qi Zhirong
Pancreatic cancer is difficult to treat, and the possibility of a cure is influenced by multiple factors. Pancreatic cancer is often not easily detected in its early stages, so many patients are already at an advanced stage when diagnosed, limiting treatment effectiveness. Early-stage pancreatic cancer may be curable through surgical resection (such as pancreatectomy), especially when the cancer is confined to the pancreas and has not metastasized. Most pancreatic cancer patients have already experienced local spread or distant metastasis at the time of diagnosis, making complete surgical removal of cancer cells unlikely. Treatment mainly relies on methods such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and targeted therapy. Advances in modern medicine, such as immunotherapy and new targeted drugs, have provided more treatment options for pancreatic cancer patients; however, the overall cure rate remains low. Treatment success is closely related to factors such as the patient's overall health status, cancer stage, and response to treatment. Although the possibility of a cure is small, early diagnosis and active treatment can significantly improve survival rates and quality of life.
