Can people with type 2 diabetes drink goji berry water?
Disease description:
I have type 2 diabetes. Recently, I've been going to bed a bit late, and I would like to drink some goji berry tea. May I ask if it's suitable for someone with type 2 diabetes to drink goji berry tea?
Type 2 diabetic patients can drink moderate amounts of goji berry-infused water. Goji berries, as a traditional Chinese herb, have multiple functions, including enhancing the activity of pancreatic cells, assisting in lowering blood glucose, reducing blood lipids, and cholesterol. The amount of sugar contained in goji berry-infused water is relatively low; therefore, it generally does not directly cause an increase in blood sugar levels. However, because goji berries themselves contain a certain amount of sugar, diabetic patients should still monitor their intake to avoid excessive consumption that might lead to fluctuations in blood glucose levels. Additionally, drinking goji berry-infused water may provide auxiliary therapeutic effects for certain symptoms experienced by diabetic patients, such as improving blurred vision and enhancing immunity. It is important to note, however, that goji berry-infused water cannot replace standard diabetes treatments, and patients should continue to follow their physician's advice, take prescribed medications regularly, and maintain dietary control.
