After being bitten by mosquitoes, infants and young children may experience redness and swelling, and the following measures can be taken for treatment: 1. Local disinfection: Immediately clean and disinfect the swollen area with alcohol or iodophor to prevent secondary infection. 2. Apply ointment: If the skin surface is intact, anti-inflammatory ointments such as compound polymyxin ointment or antiallergic ointments (e.g., desonide cream, mometasone furoate cream) can be applied to reduce inflammation, pain, and swelling. Note that corticosteroid-containing ointments should not be used for prolonged periods. 3. Ice or cold compress: Apply an ice pack or cold towel to the swollen area to help relieve swelling and itching. 4. Use antipruritic agents: Agents such as calamine lotion can alleviate itching, but care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes or mouth/nose. 5. Seek medical attention: If the redness and swelling persist for a long time or signs of infection such as pus formation or fever occur, timely medical treatment should be sought.
