What causes vitreous opacity in the eye?
Disease description:
I have experienced blurred vision. After going to the hospital for an examination, the doctor said it was caused by vitreous opacity. What is vitreous opacity?

Vitreous opacity, also known as floaters, typically refers to floating particles or fibrin protein clots within the vitreous body. These substances cast shadows onto the retina, causing the appearance of dark spots or lines drifting in the visual field. Most vitreous opacities are benign, do not affect vision, and require no specific treatment. With aging, vitreous opacities may also appear as a sign of age-related changes. Treatment options include medication, surgical intervention, and laser therapy.
Note that if there is a sudden appearance of numerous new floaters, flashes of light, or shadows/dark areas in the visual field, these may be warning signs of retinal tear or detachment, and immediate medical attention is necessary.
