How is keratitis treated?
Disease description:
I have developed keratitis myself, and I'm currently thinking about how to treat it. I'd like to ask, how can keratitis be treated effectively?
Keratitis is an inflammatory condition of the cornea, which may be caused by bacterial, viral, fungal, or parasitic infections, or result from autoimmune reactions or ocular trauma. The key to treatment lies in early diagnosis and targeted therapy:
1. Antibiotics or antiviral medications: For infectious keratitis, doctors will prescribe appropriate antibiotic or antiviral eye drops or ointments based on the type of pathogen.
2. Nutritional supplementation: Supplementing with vitamin A helps corneal repair, especially for corneal lesions caused by malnutrition.
3. Corneal transplantation: Severe cases may require corneal transplant surgery to restore vision.
Note: Immediate medical attention should be sought once symptoms such as eye pain, redness, blurred vision, or light sensitivity occur.
