Keratitis Symptoms
Disease description:
May I ask, my daughter has been rubbing her eyes frequently lately, and there are a lot of red blood vessels appearing in her eyes. Could this mean she has developed keratitis? What are the symptoms of keratitis?
The main symptoms of keratitis include:
1. Eye irritation symptoms: such as eye pain, photophobia, tearing, and eyelid spasms, which are the most common manifestations of keratitis. Eye pain may be accompanied by a dry sensation, and photophobia and tearing are particularly noticeable under bright light.
2. Visual impairment: patients with keratitis often experience blurred vision and reduced visual clarity, due to damage to the cornea that limits the amount of light entering the eye, significantly affecting vision.
3. Eye redness: including ciliary congestion and conjunctival congestion, causing the eyes to appear red, and sometimes accompanied by conjunctival edema.
4. Increased eye discharge: the eye may produce more white discharge than usual, which tends to be thicker in consistency.
The symptoms of keratitis are usually obvious, and medical attention should be sought promptly upon noticing any signs to avoid delaying treatment.
