What causes pain around the eyes?
Disease description:
I am 39 years old this year, and have recently been experiencing pain around my eyes. I don't know whether it's caused by my own hypertension. I would like to know, what causes pain around the eyes?
Orbital pain may be caused by various factors, including but not limited to the following:
1. Eye fatigue: Prolonged use of electronic devices or work can overstrain the eye muscles, potentially causing discomfort around the eyes, including orbital pain.
2. Conjunctivitis or blepharitis: Eye infections such as bacterial or viral conjunctivitis or blepharitis often accompany redness, swelling, and pain.
3. Sinusitis: Inflammation of the maxillary or frontal sinuses can cause pain around the orbit, which may worsen when bending forward or coughing.
4. Elevated intraocular pressure: In the early stages of glaucoma, increased intraocular pressure may cause eye pain, accompanied by blurred vision or halos around lights.
5. Eye muscle or nerve pain: Neurological issues such as eye muscle spasms or trigeminal neuralgia may also lead to orbital pain.
6. Systemic diseases: Conditions such as migraine or temporal arteritis may present with eye pain symptoms.
Please note that if orbital pain persists or is accompanied by other symptoms such as vision loss or worsening headache, prompt medical attention is advised.
