Eczema is a common skin condition, the main symptoms of which include skin itching, dryness, peeling, exudation, and skin lesions. Depending on the disease course, eczema can be classified into three types: acute, subacute, and chronic. Acute eczema commonly presents as dense, millet-sized papules, papulovesicles, or small blisters, with a reddish base. After scratching, pinpoint exudation and small eroded areas may develop, with unclear margins, and it may be accompanied by intense itching and secondary infection. Subacute eczema appears after the inflammation of acute eczema has subsided, and is mainly characterized by small papules, crusting, and scaling, although itching still persists. Chronic eczema usually develops from repeated episodes of acute or subacute eczema that fail to resolve completely. It is characterized by thickened, infiltrated skin that appears reddish-brown or hyperpigmented, with a rough surface covered in scales. Crusting may also develop due to scratching, and the itching is intense, with an unpredictable disease course and tendency to recur. Treatment of eczema should involve selecting appropriate medications and methods according to the severity and type of condition. Attention should also be paid to dietary and lifestyle adjustments to avoid aggravation or recurrence of the disease. If symptoms of eczema appear, it is recommended to seek timely medical attention and follow the treatment advice of a qualified physician.
