Dr. Shen Yonghua
Omeprazole enteric-coated capsules are a commonly used proton pump inhibitor, primarily indicated for the treatment of diseases related to excessive gastric acid secretion. Its main action is to reduce gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the activity of proton pumps in gastric parietal cells, thereby alleviating symptoms caused by excess gastric acid. It is frequently used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and other related conditions, helping to relieve gastrointestinal discomfort, stomach pain, heartburn, and other symptoms. Omeprazole can also effectively prevent gastric injury caused by long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and aids in the healing of gastric mucosa. By decreasing gastric acid secretion, it reduces irritation to the gastric mucosa and promotes healing of gastric ulcers and esophagitis. Long-term use may affect the balance of the gastrointestinal microbiota and increase the risk of infections. It should be avoided by individuals allergic to omeprazole or any of its components. Patients experiencing severe adverse symptoms such as persistent abdominal pain, black stools, or hematemesis during treatment should seek medical attention promptly.
