What causes scrotal moisture?
Disease description:
I have noticed that my scrotum has been moist and itchy lately. I would like to know what causes scrotal dampness.
Scrotal moisture may be caused by various factors, including but not limited to the following:
1. Physiological sweating: The scrotal skin is thin and rich in sweat glands. Particularly in hot weather or after exercise, natural perspiration can lead to a feeling of dampness.
2. Fungal infection: Conditions such as jock itch or scrotal tinea, caused by fungi (e.g., Candida), are skin disorders often accompanied by itching and skin swelling, leading to increased secretions.
3. Bacterial infection: Such as folliculitis or sebaceous gland inflammation, bacterial infections can cause local inflammation, resulting in secretions and dampness.
4. Non-breathable clothing: Tight pants or synthetic underwear do not absorb moisture well, hinder air circulation, and increase the risk of dampness.
5. Prostate problems: Certain prostate conditions may cause urine residue, leading to local dampness.
6. Hormonal imbalance: Excessive androgens or testicular dysfunction may lead to increased sweat gland secretion.
Note that if accompanied by pain, itching, rash, or other symptoms, prompt medical attention is advised.
