What causes lower abdominal pain?
Disease description:
I have had a dull ache in my lower abdomen since this morning. I would like to know what could be causing this?
Lower abdominal pain can be caused by various factors. Common causes include digestive system issues such as gastroenteritis, appendicitis, or intestinal infections, which are often accompanied by abdominal discomfort, nausea, and vomiting. In women, reproductive system problems such as menstrual irregularities, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, or endometriosis may also lead to lower abdominal pain. Urinary system issues, such as urinary tract infections or cystitis, can cause pain in the lower abdomen as well. Strained or overused abdominal muscles are another potential cause. Additional causes include constipation, abdominal injuries, or inflammation of internal organs. If lower abdominal pain is accompanied by fever, severe abdominal distension, persistent pain, or other concerning symptoms, prompt medical attention is recommended.
