What is hysteria?
Disease description:
The last time I was in the hospital, I encountered a patient with hysteria, but I didn't know what this condition was. I would like to ask the doctor: what is hysteria?
Hysteria, also known as hysteria or dissociative conversion disorder, is a common mental disorder. It is primarily characterized by partial or complete loss of the patient's sense of identity and loss of past memories. Symptoms may include narrowed consciousness, selective memory loss, or confusion.
The symptoms of hysteria are diverse and may involve psychological, neurological, or physical aspects, such as sensory disturbances (e.g., hypersensitivity, blindness, deafness), motor disturbances (e.g., convulsive seizures, limb paralysis), and pseudodementia. These symptoms lack corresponding organic damage as a pathological basis; therefore, hysteria is considered a mental health disorder.
Treatment for hysteria usually includes methods such as psychotherapy, medication, and behavioral therapy, aiming to help patients regain normal psychological function and improve quality of life.
