How to treat burns effectively and quickly
Disease description:
I accidentally got burned by fire yesterday, and my skin is very painful. I'd like to ask the doctor, how should burns be treated to heal quickly?
Burns usually require cold therapy on the affected area, as well as debridement of the wound. Because each patient's injury varies, symptomatic treatment tailored to the severity of the burn is often necessary to aid recovery of the burned area.
1. Cold therapy: Burns refer to injuries caused by high-temperature objects affecting localized skin. Generally, there is still persistent heat present after scalding. Rinsing the burned area under running cold water or directly soaking the area in cold water can rapidly reduce the temperature of the affected site and prevent further tissue damage.
2. Debridement: If the burned area only shows symptoms of redness, iodophor can be applied for disinfection. However, if the skin is broken, normal saline should be used to disinfect the wound to prevent infection. In more severe cases where tissue necrosis and eschar formation occur, medical attention is required for surgical debridement.
3. Symptomatic treatment: Usually, topical burn ointments are applied to the affected area as directed by a physician, which can aid wound healing. However, if the burn is deep and extensive, skin grafting surgery is generally required to promote wound recovery and prevent complications.
