Dr. Wang Xiaoyan
The treatment for dyshidrotic eczema (pompholyx) should be determined based on the severity of the condition and individual patient factors. Generally, the following treatment measures may be used: 1. General treatment: Keep the affected area clean and dry, avoid friction and scratching to prevent skin lesions from breaking open and developing secondary infections. 2. Topical medication: Corticosteroid creams or ointments, calcineurin inhibitor ointments, such as mometasone furoate cream or tacrolimus ointment, may be used. Specific medications should be used under a doctor's guidance. 3. Oral medication: For severe itching, oral antihistamines such as loratadine may be taken. If secondary bacterial infection occurs, antibiotics may be added. 4. Physical therapy: Such as narrowband medium-wave ultraviolet (NB-UVB) and UVA1 phototherapy, which can promote healing of skin lesions. 5. Surgical treatment: For larger blisters, a medical visit is required for incision and drainage to remove the fluid. Do not attempt this yourself to avoid the risk of infection.
