Patients with high fasting blood glucose can consume soybeans in moderation. Soybeans belong to soy products; they have relatively low calories and a low glycemic index, so moderate consumption generally does not cause sharp increases in blood sugar levels. Additionally, soybeans are rich in dietary fiber and protein, which are beneficial for individuals with high blood glucose. Dietary fiber increases satiety, reduces intake of other foods, and helps delay sugar absorption, preventing sharp rises in post-meal blood glucose. It should be noted that if patients with high fasting blood glucose have already developed chronic complications of diabetes, such as kidney dysfunction, soybean consumption should be strictly controlled. This is because soybeans contain large amounts of plant-based protein, which the human body cannot efficiently utilize. Excessive intake may increase the burden on the kidneys and worsen kidney damage.
