Disease description:

I don't even know how it happened, but I was diagnosed with being "big three positive" (positive for HBsAg, HBeAg, and anti-HBc). I would like to ask the doctor, can "big three positive" be cured?

Dr. Yang Ziqi
"HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B" refers to a state after hepatitis B virus infection, characterized by positive results for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg), and hepatitis B core antibody. The main goals of hepatitis B treatment are to control viral replication, reduce liver inflammation, prevent disease progression, and lower the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer. Currently, HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B can be effectively controlled, but complete cure remains difficult. Antiviral medications such as entecavir and tenofovir can suppress viral replication. Some patients may achieve HBeAg seroconversion after long-term treatment, transitioning to "HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B" (commonly referred to as "minor triple positive") or becoming negative for HBeAg. However, complete clearance of hepatitis B virus (HBV DNA) is extremely rare; therefore, "cure" is generally not set as the treatment goal. Treatment decisions should be made based on individual patient conditions, including liver function, viral load, and disease activity. If there are any concerns, timely medical consultation is recommended.
