Symptoms of rectal prolapse
May I ask, I have been experiencing a foreign body sensation during bowel movements recently. Could this be rectal prolapse? What symptoms would rectal prolapse present with?
Rectal prolapse is a medical condition characterized by the following symptoms:
1. Anal protrusion: Patients may experience a sensation of a foreign body in the anal area or notice rectal tissue protruding from the anus after defecation, typically presenting as a mass or protruding tissue around the anal area.
2. Difficulty and pain during bowel movements: There may be difficulty passing stool, accompanied by significant pain or discomfort, which can worsen after defecation.
3. Anal itching and bleeding: Rectal prolapse can cause itching around the anus; in severe cases, there may be minor bleeding or discharge, which can affect quality of life.
If the above symptoms occur, prompt medical consultation and diagnosis are recommended.
