What to do if you get a sunburn: bright red and painful
Disease description:
With high summer temperatures and my job requiring outdoor work, I am prone to sunburn. I would like to ask the doctor, what should I do if I get sunburned and experience redness and pain?
Sunburn is usually caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation, resulting in skin damage. Skin redness and pain after sunburn can be treated with general care or medication.
1. General care: If exposed to strong sunlight, timely emergency cooling measures are needed, such as applying ice packs or cold compresses with a wet towel, which can effectively relieve redness and pain after sunburn. It is best to avoid prolonged exposure to strong sunlight in daily life to prevent skin irritation.
2. Medication: After sunburn, aloe vera gel can be applied appropriately to promote skin recovery. Under a doctor's guidance, medications such as zinc oxide cream or calamine lotion may also be used to prevent worsening of symptoms. Additionally, corticosteroids such as prednisone may be used to help reduce inflammation. If the pain persists or symptoms worsen, seek medical attention promptly.
