Treatment of Bronchiectasis
Disease description:
I start coughing as soon as I catch a cold, and the cough is quite severe. The doctor mentioned that I have bronchiectasis. I would like to ask about the treatment for bronchiectasis.
The treatment of bronchiectasis mainly includes the following aspects:
1. Physical therapy: Postural drainage is used to help clear airway secretions and improve respiratory status. Patients should adopt different positions according to the affected areas; for example, if the lower lobes are affected, prone positioning can be used for drainage.
2. Medication therapy: Commonly used medications include anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., glucocorticoids), bronchodilators (e.g., β2-adrenergic agonists), and immunomodulatory agents, aimed at relieving symptoms, improving airflow, and suppressing inflammatory responses.
3. Surgical treatment: For patients with localized lesions, ineffective medical treatment, or recurrent massive hemoptysis, surgical resection of the affected lung tissue may be considered.
4. Other treatments: Such as fiberoptic bronchoscopy for drainage and sputum removal, and bronchial artery embolization, which are applicable to patients under specific circumstances.
