What is a cold due to wind-cold?
I have been getting feverish and coughing quite easily lately. The doctor mentioned that I have a slight cold due to wind-cold invasion. I would like to know, what exactly is a wind-cold type of common cold?
Wind-cold感冒 is a type of common cold caused by external cold wind pathogens invading the body. It is mainly characterized by low body temperature, significant chills, mild fever, and is often accompanied by symptoms such as headache, cough, sore throat, and nasal congestion.
1. Symptom characteristics: Patients often feel cold, experience body shivering, have a runny nose with clear mucus, cough with clear phlegm, and have a mild sore throat. The face appears pale, the tongue coating is thin and white, and the pulse is tense. Wind-cold感冒 usually starts suddenly, presenting with a feeling of coldness on the body surface, and body temperature generally does not rise to a high level.
2. Causes: Wind-cold感冒 is mostly caused by invasion of external cold wind or sudden weather changes leading to decreased body resistance, resulting in retention of cold pathogens in the body and triggering a cold. Excessive exposure to cold or staying too long in a cold environment can easily lead to this type of cold.
3. Management measures: Avoid further chilling, maintain body temperature, and appropriately consume warm-natured medications or foods, such as ginger tea or brown sugar ginger water, which help to dispel cold and expel pathogens. Pay attention to keeping warm, avoid cold stimulation, and accelerate recovery.
If symptoms of wind-cold感冒 persist without improvement or complications arise, prompt medical attention is recommended.
