Lupus erythematosus is a common chronic, relapsing autoimmune disease. Its exact cause remains unclear, but it may be related to genetic, hormonal, immune, and environmental factors. This disease primarily affects women of childbearing age and often shows familial clustering. Lupus erythematosus can be classified into cutaneous lupus erythematosus and systemic lupus erythematosus based on the affected areas. Cutaneous lupus erythematosus can be further divided into acute cutaneous lupus erythematosus, subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus, and chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus. Regarding clinical manifestations, because lupus erythematosus can affect multiple organs throughout the body, symptoms are diverse and complex. Major symptoms include skin manifestations, cardiac symptoms, pulmonary symptoms, renal symptoms, hematologic system symptoms, and neurological symptoms. Specific symptoms depend on the involved organs and the severity of the disease. Lupus erythematosus is not an infectious disease and is not contagious. In terms of treatment, there is currently no cure for lupus erythematosus. However, through early diagnosis and standardized comprehensive treatment, the condition can be improved, and the disease can be controlled in most patients.
