The time from menstrual irregularities to menopause varies greatly among individuals and depends on individual differences. Generally, the period from the initial signs of menopause to the final menstrual period is called the menopausal transition, typically occurring in women over 40 years of age. This stage can be as short as 1 to 2 years or as long as 10 to 20 years, with an average duration of 3 to 5 years. Menstrual irregularities are common during the menopausal transition. As ovarian function gradually declines, the ovaries produce less estrogen and progesterone, leading to irregular menstrual cycles. This may manifest as prolonged menstrual cycles, decreased or increased menstrual flow, and other phenomena. Therefore, it is not possible to provide an exact time frame for how many years after menstrual irregularities menopause will occur. However, in most cases, women may enter menopause after experiencing 3 to 5 years of menstrual irregularities. Please note that if you have any concerns or worries, it is advisable to consult a qualified healthcare professional promptly.
