Patients with herpes zoster can take warm showers, but should pay attention to the following: 1. **Water temperature control**: The water temperature should not be too high. Avoid using excessively hot water, as high temperatures may irritate the skin, potentially worsen herpes symptoms, or even cause blisters to rupture. It is recommended to use moderately warm water that feels comfortable. 2. **Shower duration**: The duration of the shower should not be too long, ideally limited to around 10 minutes, to prevent chilling or discomfort caused by prolonged soaking of the skin in water. 3. **Choice of shower products**: Avoid using shower gels, soaps, or other products containing alkaline substances, fragrances, alcohol, or other irritating ingredients, as these may irritate the skin and worsen itching symptoms. It is recommended to use mild shower products or清水 (clear water) for cleansing. 4. **Gentle movements**: Movements during showering should be gentle. Avoid scrubbing or squeezing the affected areas forcefully, to prevent rupture of the blisters, which may lead to secondary bacterial infection. 5. **Keep affected areas dry**: After showering, gently pat the affected areas dry with a clean, soft towel to ensure the area remains dry. Moist environments may increase the risk of infection in the herpes lesions.
